Neemrana & the big city
It was a beautiful new year’s eve .
What made it beautiful was not that the year was ending, after all the date
change happens every day and so does the time which changes every second. It was something more.
As I stepped out of the ‘mahal
‘(that’s what they call rooms in- here) I truly felt elevated. It was the sheer
feel of being in Rajasthan and being amidst peace where life moves at a pace
defined by the people who stay here.
Believe me, you would want to stay here forever not because you are
staying in a palace but you are in a surrounding where you feel at peace with
As I happen to sip an early morning
tea (though I am a coffee person) I was joined by Elena . She happens to be a globe-trotter and loves
capturing the ‘speed’ of cities as she says.Together we decided to head out for
an early walk . As we scrolled through the village we realized that even before
the start it came to an end and we ended up thinking how easy life would be if
everything would be so simple and only need based .
People here have one ambition - to
be happy . They don’t want to run after money , power or what we big ‘city’
folks call as – ambition . Here , they
want to have a family , a wife who is loving and caring and a kid or two , may
be who bring the ‘ noise’ in the small home. Men, usually have small land
piece/s that they work in through the day and earn a living. At end of the day the entire family gathers
around a small stove or a ‘chulla’ , sit
on the ground and everyone shares a meal and enjoy a blissful night’s sleep.
Imagine this in contrast to what
some of us big ‘city’ folks tend to do or are usually doing . We step out early to chase our dreams ( as we
would like to call ) , step in late evening at our PG accommodation ( or homes
, as our family calls them ) and then
again get wired to the already wireless devices . Did you find an iota of peace or happiness in
all of this ? The answer is something we
all know. And we all are aware deep down
within . That’s one of the reason why we big’city’ guys take breaks , one of
the good things that we still try to do.
As Elena said, it’s not important to
have a profile that speaks volumes of you. Its important to have a life that lets
you live and live freely and speaks about you. My FACEBOOK page is LIVE now . Click here
You may think its the power and the pride that comes with the post which an IPS officer holds or some of you may say its the
sheer status the word IPS reflects upon one.
The perks like most of us
know, is having an unprecedented power, ( used to-be) a lal-batti , a huge team which does
' Jai Hind ' and a whole lot of a new world .
Given, I have had a good fortune
to be in a family of friends who are IPS and know and understand from them what is it being an
IPS officer most of the above mentioned movies or may be the image we tend paint
in our minds is very different from what actually is an IPS officer and what
all does s/he undergoes to be one.
I would put my take on this and
share with you all my thoughts on how & what is a life of an IPS.
Studying is just a part of it.
The civil services examinations are considered not only the toughest in Indian
There is something about rains and open spaces that make me a little more than hilarious. And not only me, couple of others as well .
Today, rains in Delhi bought back the festive cheer killing the week long SMOG clouding all around Delhi / NCR. As I am usually up for an early morning catch-up breakfast with a few special folks, we decided let's step out and drive away to a place far from the traffic snarls yet has a festive cheer.
While you may think I am crazy and my rest of the gang mad but then this is how life should be - unplanned, unbiased and unimaginable yet positive .
Known world over as the princess of hill stations, this place has made me fall in love all over again. My first thought on reaching here was, this can't be in India.
This has to be a foreign location. Pristine surrounding, lovely people to talk to and spend time with and not to forget the bicycles that can be rented to take a ride or two around the famous Kodaikanal …
Every night when she tried to sleep, she thought of the 'what if's' in her life that lead to the 'what about's'..
What if tomorrow or the next moment she was dead..
What about the dreams and aspirations she wanted to fulfill..
What about the loved ones she fought an hour back..
What about her 'would be' husband and kids..
What about the life she ever imagined..
What about making it big..
What about the home for homeless cause she wanted to build all around..
What about the heartbreaks she went..
What about the travel she is yet to set foot upon..
What about the many thanks & apologies she owes to people..
What about her sweet kitten- Mando..
What about her family & friends..
As she was watching her favorite sitcom series she realized that one day she will not be around & yet there is so much to do. What she also thought was the time gone by, all these years, she was just basically waking up and sleeping down. In between, it was all air.
